چکیده

Let n1 and n2 be the indexes of refraction of two homogeneous and isotropic media I and II, respectively. Suppose that from a point O inside medium I light emanates with intensity f (x) for x ∈ Ω . We want to construct a refracting surface R parameterized as R = {ρ(x)x : x ∈ Ω}, separating media I and II, and such that all rays refracted by R into medium II have directions in Ω∗ and the prescribed illumination intensity received in the direction m ∈ Ω∗ is f ∗(m). We first introduce the notions of refractor mapping and measure, and weak solution. Let Ω, Ω∗ be two domains on Sn−1, the illumination intensity of the emitting beam is given by nonnegative f (x) ∈ L1(Ω), and the prescribed illumination intensity of the refracted beam is given by a nonnegative Radon measure μ on Ω∗. Throughout the paper, we assume that |∂Ω| = 0 and the physical constraint

Light Beams Refractor

In this note, our goal is to find a refractor lens that refracts all prescribed light rays, in different directions, to the origin. Similar problems have been studied recently; see [2], [3] and [4]. The main difference between this problem and the near field refractor problem, which was studied in [4], is that now we are given the initial positions and directions of light beams and we are looki...

Optimal Mass Transport and Solution to the Far Field Refractor Problem

1. Optimal transportation set up Let D, D∗ be two domains on Sn−1 or bounded domains in a manifold (D might be contained in one manifold and D∗ in another) with |∂D| = 0. LetN be a multi-valued mapping from D onto D∗ such thatN(x) is single-valued a.e. on D. For F ⊂ D∗, we set T (F) = N−1(F) = {x ∈ D : N(x) ∩ F , ∅}. We sayN is measurable if T (F) is Lebesgue measurable for any Borel set F ⊂ D∗...

Regularity for the near Field Parallel Refractor and Reflector Problems

We prove local C1,α estimates of solutions for the parallel refractor and reflector problems under local assumptions on the target set Σ, and no assumptions are made on the smoothness of the densities.

Relationship between head wave amplitudes and seismic refraction velocities to detect lateral variation in the refractor

Refractor ambiguities are big problem in seismic refraction method especially in seismic engineering. There can be hidden subsurface geological phenomena such as hidden faults and shear zones which are not simply predicted by the travel-time graph or some geophysical methods. Head wave amplitudes are used to show the resolution of refractor ambiguities and the existence of anisotropy in complex...

The near Field Refractor

We present an abstract method in the setting of compact metric spaces which is applied to solve a number of problems in geometric optics. In particular, we solve the one source near field refraction problem. That is, we construct surfaces separating two homogenous media with different refractive indices that refract radiation emanating from the origin into a target domain contained in an n − 1 ...
